If you’ve got sensitive skin, then finding the right beauty products that won’t cause irritation can be a nightmare. The worst is when you’ve taken a chance on a product, only to end up breaking out into painful red patches on your face. In my hunt for a natural face mask, I came across this Rosehip Clarifying Clay Masque from Essano at my local Priceline.

My skin is usually okay with botanical ingredients and when I read that “99.00% of the total ingredients are of natural origin”, I thought why not give it a go.  Other claims included that it deeply cleanses, balances and purifies. I fully envisioned my skin to be glowing tremendously and feeling rejuvenated after using this.

If you’re a fan of botanical-scented products, then you’ll love this. The rosehip is definitely present and has a light and delicate scent. My skin is a combination of both oily and dry, but much drier in cold winter months. I wasn’t sure how this would react with my current winter skin, so I started applying the pale pink mousse-like mask in a small section under my jaw to test if it would react. After the first test patch it seemed okay, so I continued the application to my whole face.

At first there was a familiar cold, tingly sensation and I started to question whether this was a good idea. Flashbacks of my previous bad reactions to clay masks came flooding through my head. I decided to take the chance and continue on with the mask since I’ve already committed. I left the mask on for about 15 minutes, and as it started to dry out, the tingly feeling had faded away.

When the time was up, I gently rinsed it off with warm water and a face towel. The mask left my face feeling very moisturised and dewy, and more importantly, no breakouts! This clay mask didn’t dry out my skin like some other brands, and in fact, left my skin feeling hydrated and purified. I used it again the following week and got the same results.

As someone with very sensitive skin, the Essano Rosehip Clarifying Clay Masque seemed to work a treat! At first I was a bit sceptical as to how my skin would react, but after using the product, I’m grateful to have come across it! If you are after a natural clay mask that’s on the lighter side with hydrating benefits, I’d recommend giving this one a go. Another bonus is that Essano is a New Zealand brand with a very affordable price point, is cruelty free and supports organic farming.
